AbstractIn this paper, we apply a new method to access gastric slow wave through magnetic approach, which can be used to validate gastric motility. The magnetogastrogram (MGG) signals are acquired by two Magnetoimpedance (GMI) sensors at two locations on the skin beside the stomach simultaneously at a sampling frequency of 1000Hz. GMI sensor is reinvented quite recently that largevariation of AC impedance with applied magnetic fieldcan be observed also in the conventional softmagnetic metals such as Mo-permalloy wires or mumetal strips, which is widely used in biotechnology fields. The two channel data are preprocessed by low-pass filter at a cut-off frequency of 5Hz and down-sampled at a sampling frequency of 10Hz. The preprocessed data are then processed using fastICA algorithm to extract real MGG signal from noise signal, and the spectrum of the two components are get by multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method. The results show that the MGG slow wave's peak can be found in one of the components spectrum, which means that the GMI sensor is available to reflect gastric slow wave.
