Other AbstractSugar beet is one of the main sources of sugar besides sugarcane,and plays an important role in production and life. In order to improve the efficiency and quality of sugar beet harvesting,we need to develop the navigation system and navigation technology of harvesters. Row guidance is a difficult problem in the navigation control of combine harvester and crop row detection is a difficult problem in row guidance. Therefore,a detection device which can be used to row guidance of sugar beet harvester is developed and designed. The detected offset from the crop row can be used for row guidance and the experiment and debugging of the device are carried out through the experimental platform. The experimental results show that the device can be used to detect offset from crop rows,and the data obtained can be used for automatic row guidance of beet harvesters.
